Following a briefing with our climb guides the previous day, your expert guide and the mountain support crew will arrive at the hotel in the morning to meet you and conduct another informative session. From there, you’ll embark on a 3-4 hour drive to Kilimanjaro National Park’s western entrance: Londorossi Gate (2,200 m). Once you’ve obtained climbing permits and registered with the search and rescue service, the trek to the first camp of the route will commence.

An early start will lead to a gradual ascent up to 3,500 meters, offering breathtaking views of the Shira Plateau and Kibo Volcano. The trek to Shira 1 Camp (3,505m) is relatively easy and takes about 5-6 hours, allowing for gradual acclimatization. Upon reaching the camp, a nourishing lunch will be prepared by your specialized team, giving you the chance to rest in your tent or explore the nearby area.

From Shira 1 Camp (3,505 m), the journey continues with a light trek to the second high-altitude camp: Shira 2 Camp (3,900 m). The route offers stunning views of Africa’s landscape and the unique flora of Kilimanjaro. Weather permitting, Shira 2 Camp provides the best vantage point to observe Mount Meru, Africa’s fifth highest summit. Once at the camp, you’ll enjoy lunch and embark on an acclimatization hike towards Lava Tower Camp, which boasts a 300-meter altitude gain.

After breakfast, you’ll leave Shira 2 Camp (3,900 m) and head towards the key point of the route: Lava Tower (4,630 m). This section involves various ascents and descents, culminating in a camp situated at over 4,600 meters. Although it might be challenging and uncomfortable, spending at least 1-2 hours at Lava Tower is essential for successful acclimatization, making it the ideal lunch spot. You’ll then descend to Barranco Camp (3,960 m) with a striking view of the famous Barranco Wall, which you’ll conquer the next day with the assistance of a simple hiking trail.

An early start awaits as you begin summiting the Barranco Wall (we recommend leaving the camp early to avoid crowds). The ascent up the gorge wall is not too difficult and typically takes about an hour. Afterward, take a well-deserved rest and capture photos in front of Kibo Volcano. The next challenge is a more demanding hike to Karanga Camp, involving several ascents and descents. Trust in our experienced guides who will set an optimal pace for the group. After reaching the camp, you’ll be served a warm lunch, followed by an acclimatization hike towards Barafu Camp, ascending 200 meters, before descending back to the camp.

In the morning, after breakfast, you’ll head to Barafu Summit Camp (4,640 m), the starting point for your night summiting Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). Our team will have already set up a camp for you, complete with tents and sleeping bags, providing a place to rest and regain strength. Following a break, embark on an acclimatization hike towards the intermediate Kosovo Summit Camp (4,800 m), then return to Barafu Camp for a hearty dinner. Rest and sleep are crucial in preparation for the night summit.

During the night, depart from Barafu Camp (4,640 m) for the ultimate challenge of summiting Kilimanjaro: Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). Technically not overly difficult, the true challenge lies in the high altitude. Each pair of climbers will have a personal guide, closely monitoring your physical and mental condition throughout the ascent. Upon successfully reaching Uhuru Peak, you can descend to the nearest glacier if desired. Then, return to Barafu Camp, rest for 2 hours, and continue your descent to Millennium Camp (3,820 m).

Awakening in a tropical rainforest, you’ll feel relief from the reduced altitude and a sense of accomplishment from reaching the summit. After a satisfying breakfast, head towards the park’s exit: Mweka Gate (1,650 m). As you descend, the entire group will gather to congratulate you, and you’ll have the opportunity to share your climb experience in the guestbook. Finally, we’ll present you with commemorative certificates at our office before providing a transfer back to the hotel. The following day, you can rest at the hotel and arrange for airport transfer, if applicable.
